Latin Star-Spangled Banner

Latin

Oh, potestne cerni, praefulgente die,

Salatatum signum circa noctis adventum?

Lati clav et stellae, decertant acie,

Gloriose cingunt oppidi munimentum!

Iaculumque rubens, glogbus sursum rumpens

Per noctem monstrant vexillum fulgens.

Stellatemne vexillum volans tegit nos,

Patriam lberam fortiumque domos?

English

Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,

O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?

And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
